South Africa / Factory-direct sourcing from China

You are not paying for the machine. You are paying for the chain.
By the time a machine reaches a South African dealer floor it has passed through an export agent, an importer, a distributor and a dealership — and every one of them has taken a margin on it. We remove that chain and quote you the factory price plus the real cost of getting it here.

One party is accountable for the machine, the paperwork and the delivery. If something is wrong on arrival, there is nobody for us to point at.
What we source
We work across construction, agriculture, bakery, workshop and materials-handling equipment. If your machine is not listed, it may still be sourced through a factory or supplier network we can access — ask us.

How an order actually runs
Four stages, in this order. The timings below are indicative ranges for a typical machine — we confirm the real dates against the specific factory before you commit to anything.
Tell us what you need
A spec sheet, a model number, or a plain description of the work. We come back with options at two or three build qualities so you can see the trade-off.
Landed quote in Rand
One number, fully broken down: machine, freight, marine insurance, duty, VAT, clearing and inland delivery. Valid for a fixed window against the exchange rate.
Build & inspection
Deposit releases the build. Before it ships we inspect against your spec — photos and video of your actual serial number, not a catalogue image.
Ship, clear, deliver
Sea freight to Durban, customs clearing, then road to your site. You get the bill of lading and tracking; we handle SARS.
The number we quote is the number you pay
The single biggest risk in importing machinery is the cost that appears after the machine does. We quote landed — every line below is already inside the figure.
What "landed" includes
An FOB price from a factory looks cheap because it is only the machine sitting at the port of origin. By the time it is standing on your yard it has collected freight, insurance, import duty, VAT, port and clearing charges and inland transport.
We price all of it up front. If the exchange rate moves outside the validity window, we re-quote before we order — we don't hand you a surprise invoice at the port.
Duty rates depend on the tariff heading your machine falls under. We confirm the correct code with our clearing agent and show you the rate we used.
| Cost line | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Machine, ex-factory (FOB) | The unit at the factory gate, built to your spec |
| Sea freight to Durban | Port to port — consolidated or breakbulk, whichever is cheaper for the size |
| Marine insurance | Cover for the machine while it is at sea |
| Import duty | At the rate for its tariff heading, which we confirm and show you |
| VAT at 15% | Charged on import — recoverable if you are VAT-registered |
| Port & clearing charges | Wharfage, agency, documentation and release |
| Inland delivery | Road transport from the port to your gate |
| Pre-shipment inspection | Photos and video of your actual serial number before it loads |
| Your landed price | One figure, in Rand |
Off-loading equipment, site preparation, commissioning and operator training are quoted separately where they apply. We say so on the quote rather than leaving it out.
The questions everyone asks first
Isn't Chinese machinery unreliable?
Chinese factories build across the whole quality range — the same country produces machines that fail in a season and machines that run for a decade. The difference is which factory, and whether anyone inspected the unit before it shipped. That selection is the actual job we do, and it is why we quote more than one build quality instead of just the cheapest.
What happens when it needs parts?
Before we quote, we confirm parts availability and lead time for that model, and we specify a recommended spares kit that ships with the machine. Wear parts are the ones that strand you, and they cost far less in the same container than they do air-freighted in a hurry six months later.
Is there a warranty?
Yes — terms depend on the machine and the factory, and we put the actual warranty period and what it covers in writing on the quote. We will not tell you a machine has a warranty we cannot support from South Africa.
Who deals with SARS and customs?
We do, through a registered clearing agent. You are not importing anything and do not need an importer's code. You receive the machine and a tax invoice like any other local purchase.
Can I finance it?
We structure quotes so your bank or asset finance provider can work from them directly — itemised, with the full landed value and the specification attached. Approval sits with your financier, but the paperwork will not be the reason it stalls.
What if I only want one machine?
That's most of our enquiries. Single units ship as part of a consolidated container or as breakbulk depending on size — we work out which is cheaper for your machine and tell you the difference.
Tell us what the machine has to do
You do not need a model number or a spec sheet. Describe the job and we'll come back with options, a landed price in Rand and a realistic delivery date.
- No obligation and no cost to quote
- Options at more than one build quality
- Landed price — duty, VAT and delivery included
