Before you buy

What actually decides whether it works

Price is the easy part. On gas, the approvals and the installation decide whether it is safe and legal to use.

Approvals

Gas appliances must be approved for sale here

Gas appliances and parts sold in South Africa fall under compulsory safety requirements. We confirm the position for each specific product with our clearing agent before quoting, because an appliance that cannot be approved cannot be sold or installed.

Installation

A gas installation needs a certificate of conformity

Gas installations must be done by a registered gas installer, who issues a certificate of conformity. Insurers ask for it, and so do buyers when a property is sold. We supply the equipment; the installation and certificate are local.

Cylinders

We do not import gas cylinders

Gas cylinders are pressure vessels with their own standards, testing and filling rules. We leave them to the licensed local suppliers and import the equipment that connects to them.

Flame failure

Insist on flame failure protection

A flame failure device shuts the gas off if the flame goes out. On commercial cooking and heaters it is not an optional extra. We specify it on every burner we quote.

Ventilation

Ventilation is part of the installation

Gas geysers, heaters and kitchens need the right ventilation and flueing. Check your space with the installer before you choose the appliance.

Support

You're trading the dealer network for the price

That's the honest trade. There is no branded service agent. Keep spare thermocouples, jets and igniters, buy on common parts, and use a registered local gas installer for service.

Straight answers

Restaurants, households and installers ask these

Can you supply gas cylinders?

No. Cylinders are pressure vessels with their own standards and filling rules, and we leave them to licensed local suppliers. We supply the stoves, geysers, regulators and fittings that connect to them.

Do I need a certificate for a gas installation?

Yes. A registered gas installer must do the installation and issue a certificate of conformity. We supply the equipment; the certificate is local.

Are your gas appliances approved?

We confirm the approval position for each specific product before we quote, and we will not sell one that cannot be approved here.

Can you supply a whole restaurant kitchen on gas?

Yes, together with our fast food and catering line. Tell us the menu and the space and we quote a matched kitchen, with gas installation by a registered local installer.
