45 / Automotive workshop & tyre
Fitment and service equipment sized to your bays and your vehicle mix
Lifts, tyre changers, balancers, alignment, brake lathes and wash systems sourced direct. Two things decide this fit-out and neither is price — the height of your roof, and whether the lift carries certification your insurer will accept.

What we source in this line
Capacities below are the common bands. Tell us the vehicles you work on and how many bays and we'll size the workshop to it.
| Equipment | Typical range | Worth specifying |
|---|---|---|
| Two-post lifts | 3.5 – 5.5 tonne | Clear floor or baseplate, roof height needed, certification |
| Four-post lifts | 4 – 8 tonne | Runway length, jacking beam, alignment version |
| Scissor lifts | Mid-rise & full-rise | Pit or surface mount, lifting height |
| Motorcycle & light lifts | 500 kg – 1.5 t | Table size, wheel clamp |
| Tyre changers | Car, 4x4 & truck | Rim range, assist arm, run-flat capability |
| Wheel balancers | Static & dynamic | Rim range, weight resolution, hood safety |
| Wheel alignment | 3D camera & CCD | Software updates, vehicle database, calibration |
| Brake lathes & disc skimmers | On and off vehicle | Rotor size range, tooling included |
| Air compressors | 100 – 500 L | Free air delivery, cast iron pump, duty rating |
| Oil, lube & fluid equipment | Drainers, dispensers, extractors | Capacity, meter accuracy, fluid compatibility |
| Diagnostic & battery testing | Multi-brand scan tools | Vehicle coverage, update cost and frequency |
| Presses, jacks & stands | 10 – 100 t | Certified load rating and test certificates |

What actually decides whether it works
Price is the easy part. These are the points that decide whether the workshop passes inspection and stays working.
Your insurer will ask about the lift
A vehicle lift carries people underneath it. Certification and load testing matter to your insurer and to whoever inspects your premises, and requirements differ from market to market. Ask what certification the lift carries, get the documentation with the machine, and have it commissioned and load tested locally.
Measure the roof before you choose the lift
A two-post lift needs its own height plus the vehicle plus clearance, and the overhead beam version needs more again. This is the constraint that most often forces a change of machine after ordering. Send us the clear height under the lowest obstruction, not the ridge height.
The slab has to take it
Two-post lifts anchor into the floor and concentrate serious load into four points. Thin or old slabs crack. Check the slab thickness and condition against the manufacturer's requirement before ordering, and budget for cutting and re-casting pads if it falls short.
Bakkies and 4x4s change every specification
South African workshops see far more one-tonne bakkies and heavy 4x4s than European ones do. That changes the lift capacity, the arm reach, the tyre changer rim range and the balancer cone set. Tell us the mix you actually see rather than an average.
Alignment machines need updating, tyre changers need parts
Alignment software needs a vehicle database that stays current, and that carries an ongoing cost. Tyre changers wear mount heads, bead breakers and jaws. Ask both questions before buying — a cheap alignment machine with an outdated database is unsellable work.
You're trading the dealer network for the price
That's the honest trade. There is no branded technician on standby. Budget for a relationship with a good local hydraulics and electrical technician, and buy with that in mind — which is an argument for standard cylinders, seals and controls over proprietary systems.
Fitment centres ask these
Will it run on South African power?
Yes, if it is specified correctly — we specify 50 Hz equipment for a 50 Hz country, so motors run at the right speed. Lifts and compressors are usually three phase, and we confirm voltage and phase against your actual supply before ordering rather than after delivery.
Is the lift certified?
We ask for the certification and the test documentation with every lift and we supply what comes with the machine. Commissioning and load testing are done here and should be — your insurer and your premises inspection will ask, and a lift is the one piece of workshop equipment where that matters most.
Will it handle bakkies and 4x4s?
Only if it is specified for them, which is why we ask about your vehicle mix first. Capacity, arm reach, rim range and cone sets all change for heavier vehicles. Equipment specified for a European car park is the wrong equipment for a South African workshop.
What does the alignment software cost to keep updated?
That is the question people forget, and it is an annual cost, not a once-off. We ask the supplier what updates cost and how often they are issued, and we put it on the quote — because an alignment machine with a stale vehicle database cannot do the work you bought it for.
Tell us the bays and the vehicles, not the model number
How many bays, the vehicles you work on, your roof height and your power — that's enough for us to come back with options, a landed price in Rand and a realistic delivery date.
- No obligation and no cost to quote
- Options at more than one build quality
- Landed price — duty, VAT and delivery included
- We reply within one working day
